Sober Mind Fall Day 1

Welcome to Day 1 of the Sober Mind Fall Challenge. I’m Diane Kingsley, and I am so glad you are here. As someone who is eight years sober, I know that recovery is not only about removing alcohol. It is also about learning how to care for the brain and body that are healing. Regular nourishment became one of the foundational ways that helped me have steadier energy, a more stable mood, and helped me to feel more motivated and inspired in life. This is my wish for you, on your journey. Today, begin with one simple idea: let protein anchor your meals. Eggs, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, fish, chicken, turkey, tofu, beans, and lentils provide amino acids your body uses for repair and normal brain function. Then add a satisfying carbohydrate, colorful plants, and nourishing fat. Fall foods make this easy and delicious. Pair pumpkin with Greek yogurt, oats, and chia, or combine roasted sweet potato with protein, greens, and pumpkin seeds. Keep water visible, and begin your Food Mood and Cravings Log with curiosity rather than judgment. Your goal today is to read through the daily lesson and notice how it feels to give your body nourishing support. TODAY'S ACTION STEP: Include protein at meals, try one balanced pumpkin or sweet potato meal, hydrate regularly, and begin the log. REFLECT ON THE FOLLOWING QUESTION: What do I hope to gain from these next seven days?
