Sober Mind Fall Day 2

Welcome back to Day 2. Today, we are looking at cravings with curiosity instead of shame. A craving does not mean you are failing. It may reflect a learned connection between alcohol and a time, feeling, place, person, or ritual. Fall can bring its own cues: football, holiday gatherings, cooking dinner, chilly evenings, or the belief that a drink belongs with relaxation. When an urge appears, pause before reacting. Ask when you last ate. Hunger, fatigue, and stress can make any craving feel louder. A balanced snack will not solve every urge, but it can remove one layer of vulnerability. Try an apple with peanut butter, Greek yogurt with cinnamon, a pear with walnuts, or whole-grain crackers with cottage cheese. Then use the HALT check-in. Am I hungry? Angry or anxious? Lonely? Tired? Name the need, and choose support that matches it. You might need food, rest, movement, connection, or a few quiet minutes to reset. Remember: a craving is information. It is not an emergency, and it is not a command. TODAY'S ACTION STEP: Track one craving without judgment, eat a planned snack, identify three fall triggers, and use THE HALT CHECK-IN once. TODAYS REFLECTION QUESTION IS: When am I most likely to want a drink, and what support could I prepare before that moment?
